IBC’s Return to Play

IBC will begin its 2021-2022 badminton season on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

To comply with the City and Facility requirements, we have some new “rules” that we need to follow and hope that you will assist us as we navigate these new processes. It is critical that everyone do their part, as failure to comply could result in IBC losing its gym time.  Please take the time to ensure that you understand the changes. Mandatory Pre-Registration

 To comply with the City of Edmonton and school requirements, IBC is implementing mandatory pre-registration for EACH badminton session.

The pre-registration page is located at http://register.ibcbadminton.com

We recommend that you sign-up for an Eventbrite account if you do not have one yet. Use your eventbrite account when you pre-register for IBC sessions so that you can easily manage your pre-registrations. Eventbrite is accessible via web browser, iOS app or Android app.

Please ensure that you register before noon on the scheduled play date. If your schedule changes, please ensure that you update your registration.

 

– HOW TO CANCEL YOUR PRE-REGISTRATION FOR A PLAY SESSION –

  1. Log in to your Eventbrite account through your web browser or via the Eventbrite app. Then go to “Tickets” and click on your order.
  2. Choose “Cancel Order”.
    Desktop — Select ‘Cancel Order” (next to your order details). Then choose “Yes, cancel this order”.
    Eventbrite app — Select the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and tap “Cancel order”.
  3. Check for an email from Eventbrite. You and IBC will receive an email to confirm cancellation.

 

Entrance Requirements

PRIOR to entering the school, ALL participants MUST present the following to the IBC representative who will be standing outside:

1) Government issued photo identification (e.g. driver’s license);

AND

2) One of the following:

  • proof of vaccination QR code (paper/printed copy)
  • proof of a privately-paid negative rapid test result taken within the last 72 hours
  • documentation of a medical exemption

Check-In

IBC representatives will be outside at the entrance of the school 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time for that play session. Check-in will be open for 20 minutes. Doors will be locked 10 minutes after the scheduled start time and entry is not permitted once the doors are locked.

 

Schedule

For this season the EDBA lost Sunday at Wagner due to limited custodial support. We managed to pick up time at Mother Margaret Mary School on THURSDAYS from 8:30pm-10:30pm. We hope that this is temporary and IBC can re-gain WP Wagner Sundays next season.

We will play at WP Wagner MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS from 8:00pm-10:30pm, and SATURDAYS from 2pm-4pm.

Dropping In

Drop-ins ($5) will be permitted on select days of the week AND will require pre-registration. Please see Dropping In for the latest information.

Fees & Renewing Your Membership

Returning members have until end of play on December 1, 2021 to renew their membership. Membership fee must be paid in full and a waiver submitted before you can play. We will have printed copies of the waiver available for you but if you would like to help us expedite registration, please bring your own completed copy. Please make cheques payable to “IBC.”

The 2021-2022 fees for IBC membership are as follows:

  • Single: $90
  • Family of 2: $150
  • Family of 3: $188
  • Family of 4: $225

 

For those who WILL be renewing their membership, IBC will offer a discount in light of the truncated 2019-2020 season. The discount will be available to you during membership renewal so your 2021-2022 fees will be as follows:

  • Single:  $45
  • Couple: $75
  • Family of 3: $93.75
  • Family of 4: $112.50

 

If you are NOT renewing your membership, please let us know ASAP so we can prepare a cheque for you to pick up between Nov 17 and Dec 1 at WP Wagner play dates. Your refund (if not renewing) is as follows:

  • Single:  refund $45
  • Couple: refund $75
  • Family of 3: refund $93.75
  • Family of 4: refund $112.50

 

Renewals and refunds will be handled the same way as in previous years. Tables will be set up at the entrance of the gym. You do need to show your proof for entry PRIOR to entering the school. For more information about membership, please refer to the website.

 

While On-Site

  • All participants must be able to present their proof for entry documents at all times while on-site in the event of a site audit. This is why we ask you to PRINT your QR code and keep it in your bag for the season. The City will be auditing gyms at any time and we will be in trouble if your phone battery dies.
  • Participants must be masked at all times except when they are engaging in their activity.
  • No access to change rooms – participants are to arrive ready to play.
  • A minimum number of designated washrooms will be made available for participants.
  • Participants must leave the school immediately following the completion of their activity.
  • No spectators at this time. Pick-up and drop-off must be arranged for outside the school.
  • If you start to develop symptoms of COVID-19 while in a facility, please inform an IBC Executive and leave the facility immediately.

 

Please stay home and do not attend if you…

  • Are feeling ill and/or experiencing any of the following symptoms: cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose or sore throat
  • Have experienced any of the above symptoms in the last 10 days
  • Have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days or been in contact with anyone who has tested positive
  • Have, within the last 14 days, returned home from travel outside of Canada or been in contact with someone who has travelled outside of Canada and tested positive for COVID-19
  • According to Alberta Health Services, an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. All guests should evaluate their health prior to the event and determine the risk of increased exposure.
