Joining IBC
Thank you for your interest in joining IBC.
We have reached capacity for the 2025-2026 season and are not able to accept new members.
IBC club membership is open to the public. We likely will accept new members September 2026. In the meantime, if you would like to drop-in to play, we accept drop-ins on SATURDAYS. Please refer to https://ibcbadminton.com/club-information/dropping-in/ for more information.
Membership Benefits
- Lots and lots of scheduled play sessions. Our season runs September to June and we play mostly 4 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday). Each season is well over 200 hours of badminton. One fee, many options – you choose the dates that work best for you.
- Meet new people! We have a great member base, and host a variety of skill levels. If you would like to pop by to observe, contact us.
- Badminton shuttles (Mavis 300) are provided. If you prefer playing feather, no problem, you are welcome to bring your own shuttles.
- Great value. IBC is efficiently run by volunteers and we are a member club of the EDBA. An individual membership is only $140 for the entire season (Sept. to June).
- Social events. We have at least 2 social events per year – a Winter Party and an Annual Dinner. This year, we also plan to run ladder on Saturdays. All IBC members are automatically members of the EDBA and can play EDBA tournaments and join EDBA events.
- Family Program. IBC offers a family program for members to play badminton with their children (under the age of 16) on weekends. Space is limited and this program fills up quickly every year.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the chances of IBC accepting members this year?
Chances are very high. While it is difficult to project renewals, IBC typically has a fair number of spots available each year. We accept new members first come, first served thereafter until we reach our membership cap. The membership cap has also been increased to accommodate more players.
I heard IBC hosts a lottery/draw to join. Is this true?
Since COVID, IBC has had enough membership openings to accommodate everyone. No draw/lottery has been necessary. Membership is first come, first served. We start accepting new members on the date specified on this page until our membership cap is reached for the season.
Is there a Waiting List for prospective new members?
Sorry, there is no waiting list.
I would like to drop-in play at IBC prior to joining. Is this possible?
Please refer to our drop-in page to check the status of our drop-in availability. If you would like to pop by to observe the level of play, please email us.
Is there a minimum age requirement?
An individual membership is available to a person 16 years of age or older by September 30 of the membership renewal year.
Can I join AFTER the date you start accepting new members?
Yes, provided IBC has not reached its membership cap. After our in-person registration day, a new member application form will be posted here. We will contact applicants to arrange registration.
